With more than 30 editions, SXSW is the world’s most important festival of innovation in technology, film and music, where thousands of people gather to discover new trends.

Every year during the festival, many countries use this scenario to show their culture and their most outstanding and influential proposals. United Kingdom with The British Music Embassy, The Nordic House (Sweden and Finland), German Haus (Germany) and Canadian Blast (Canada). Mexico, sharing economically and culturally with the United States, especially with Texas and the city of Austin, could not be left behind and a space like these was more than necessary.

OBJETIVOS –

Create a Mexican space that works as a place of encounter and dialogue during SXSW eve, in order to showcase Mexican trends, proposals and Mexican projects, as well as the authors behind these creative initiatives.

Reto –

The challenge was important: show the best that Mexico has to offer during the world’s most important festival on creative and trendsetting fields.

La idea –

A showcase with the best of the Mexican contemporary culture, where new, creative Mexican minds shared their experience and talent with the SXSW audience, creative a bond and gate between cultures: CASA MEXICO.

¿CÓMO LO LOGRAMOS? –

In a joint work with the Mexican consulate at Austin, TX, and the International Affairs Bureau from Mexico, CASA MEXICO was established in an unprecedented place, the MACC (Mexican American Cultural Center), at the heart of Austin. This took place during SXSW festival, from March 9th through 11th.
Workshops, entrepreneurship, start-ups, technology, experiences and interactions, along with musical expressions, such as The Chamanas, Agrupación Cariño, and Astros de Mendoza, all achieved to get the attention from a great number of people who are interested in learning what our country is thinking.
We had the support of some of the most important Mexican brands, such as José Cuervo Tradicional, Mezcal Creyente, and Cervezas Mexicanas Artesanales, on behalf of Cerveceros de Mexico; all in all, a great synergy among talented Mexicans.

CONCEPTO –

CASA MEXICO: the space where we would receive and welcome each and every person interested in learning the most recent trends and creative initiatives in our country.

What were the results of the event?

Great Outcome

More than 15,000 people attended CASA MEXICO during SWSW and was the international landmark that received the most visits during the festival.

Social Network conversation

A really important conversation on social networks took place with CASA MEXICO. More than 253,450 potential impacts were registered, as well as more than 1250 Instagram pictures tagged on CASA MEXICO’s location.

Relevant content:

We were joined by more than 150 talented Mexicans that taught in 30 different workshops, 25 talks, 3 expos and 3 concert nights.

Such was the success and impact that the Mexican Consulate in Austin has decided to concretize Casa México 2018 at the next year’s SXSW festival.
