Context
Bringing Mexico's cultural richness to the entire world
Mexico is a country with a great diplomatic tradition and a historically high-performing foreign service, which has allowed us to establish ties with 193 countries worldwide and maintain 150 representations: 81 embassies, 67 consulates (50 of them in the United States alone), and 7 permanent missions.
There is no doubt that Mexico’s ties with the outside world are not strictly political, but are also bonds of friendship, fueled largely by our country’s history and cultural richness.
Objective
To create a digital tool to disseminate Mexico's vast cultural offerings and information worldwide through its diplomatic representations in an accessible, organized, low-cost manner that could be updated in real time.
Challenge
Our country has such a wide cultural spectrum that communicating it abroad had become a complicated and disorganized task. The production of the printed cultural promotion catalog took six months, plus the delivery time to the representations, and it was updated annually. How could we create a more agile and organized way to communicate our culture to the world?
The Idea
In conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) and the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID), we launched the Cultural Promotion Program, which operates through a web platform where the country’s cultural information is digitized, updated, and distributed in real time. Once updated, this information can be consulted worldwide and programmed immediately.
